Gears of War 3 review
The goods- Campaign- gears 3 comes at you with a fully exciting,emotional,& at some times challenging campaign. Its dialog is pretty graphic at times but it flows pretty well with these bad asses of COG's. You will find some surprises in it especially be a little confused at some parts. For the average gamer it should take anywhere from 9-11 hours to beat if your more experienced maybe like 7.
Horde - In gears of war 2 horde was a very interesting addition to the series, it promoted extra gameplay other than just campaign & multiplayer but also gave more of a challenge with friends but was very dull. In gears of war 3 they beefed up the horde gameplay completely. They added serveral new features in it such as a currency system. the currency system is based off of how many kills you get/assists/type of kills in the rounds. the money goes to a bunch of new features such as barricades, dummys, gun turrets, and fortifications. Adding all of this to the horde gameplay gives it much more replay value than gears of war 2 horde. Horde consists of 50 waves of enemys including 5 boss waves.
Beast mode - Beast mode is another addition in Gears of war 3 where you play opposite of horde and control the locust swarm trying to beat off the COG. Although this is my least favorite game type it has some benefits of runnign around as tickers to jsut blow stuff up. Once you unlock more characters as you play through you can choose the berserker and jsut run into and destroy everything its pretty entertaining although very costly to your money. Beast mode consists of 12 waves.
Multiplayer - By far the best mode in the game i would think obviously since its known to be a competitive online game. Good things from gears 2 to gears 3 were the server updates that they issued. gears of war 2 had horrible lag and terrible host servers. gears 3 seemed to beat the odds and get there servers to very good performace, sometimes u see a nick in it but other than that its fine. the new additions of all the medals Ribbons lets you keep track off all your cool kill stats. The level system also has been improved where in gears of war 2 there was like noone that could possibly reach level 100 without glitching it. gears 3 its fairly easier to level up. Another improvement is how they nerfed the chainsaw from the lancer. finally after 2 more gears of war they dimmed down the powerful chainsaw everyone was complaining about. The gameplay is mostly the same for the rest.
The bads - The only real problems i have with this game are 3 things. 1) the sawed-off shotgun, honestly it shoulda been a pickup weapon. All this gun does is promote camping on maps and all you have to do is pull the trigger close up to a enemy and there dead in 1 bullet. 2) The fact that theres only really 9 maps and the map randomization is horrible ull play the same 2 maps like 6 times before others and it wouldnt hurt to add map packs from gears of war 1. & 3) its hard to go into a match and make a point by urself, usually u need a team of 3+ to actually come into a game and turn it around in your favor.
Game overall : 9.5
